Featured Grill-Cessorie: Alder and Cedar Grilling Planks
This we
ek’s featured product is our grilling planks. Available in alder and cedar flavors, barbecue grilling planks are a great way to infuse your dishes with delicious smoky flavor without using a smokebox or stand alone smoker. Alder grilling planks are the way to go when smoking fish and especially salmon, while cedar grill planks are a great choice for many meats.
If you’re a first time user of grilling planks – don’t be afraid of the fact that you are placing a piece of wood over an open flame, just be cautions and make sure your grill is clean. When using grilling planks it’s a great idea to keep a squir
t bottle filled with water handy to help keep the flames under control without ruining your meal. However, as long as you remember to soak your planks before grilling and place them over a clean grill, you shouldn’t have any flames to worry about.
Each grilling plank should last for about 3 uses before it can be broken down and mixed with your charcoal or simply discarded.
If you’re a first time user of grilling planks or just a little hungry, we’ve got a great cedar plank salmon recipe that you’ll love.

Definitely going to give this a try, thanks for the guidance!
I’ve grilled with planks before and I really dig how much taste they add to the food. The first time my grill wasn’t cleaned properly so there were A LOT of flames which led me to quickly learn the value of my hose. I’ve had a few go’s at it now and I’ve finally figured out that as long as your grill is clean, you won’t burn your flat down.
Salmon on alder planks is so deliciousss!
I think grilling with planks sounds like a good idea, I’m still just really nervous about putting wood over an open flame.
As long as you soak your plank for a minimum of 30 minutes before grilling you should be fine. I would also recommend filling a squirt bottle with water to help tame any flare ups. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Great site, Thanks for sharing!
The best advice I can offer is making sure your grill is CLEAN, and I mean CLEAN. When using grill planks having residue left on the grate or in the briquettes can cause massive flare ups. As long as you have a clean grill using planks is the way to go.
Will try out the salmon recipe tonight, looks tasty.
